Well, I guess I just lucked out with my Mustang. He was 12 when I bought him, neither lame nor crazy, and worth every penny of $2000.

My neighbor got a 7 yr old Fox Trotter mare (neither lame nor crazy) for $800.

Maybe I am naive. I probably am. But I figure sometimes horses become available through no fault of their own.
