You might be surprised. The ski boat feet may be in very good shape internally if there were no other problems like laminitus. Its the curling ones that usually have (the most) damage and that left rear worries me.

Yes, his RF is the one I'm most worried about. Looking at his pastern/hairline, I wouldn't be surprised if the coffin bone has sunk. Looking at all his others, I'd bet they all have a negative PA. The LH is the worst off out his hinds, too. Now I'm just itching to get some rads done but again, don't know if she'll go for it and it'll be at least another week before I could get him in the clinic to take them.

My friend said that he is walking a lot better as of now. She said that he rotates one of his hinds, his LH I believe. I'll be getting a better look at him this weekend. If I can't get him in for rads, I can at least get some bute for him.

Kind of off topic, but how long is bute good for? I still have some from Dec/Jan when Henny had his accident but I don't know if it's still any good.

there in the midst of sacred pollen hidden, all hidden he; how joyous his neigh

The bute should have an experation date on package some where. Think it a year or so not sure.

Can you PLEASE make sure to update us about the equisocks? I think they look very promising and would love to hear how they work for you. Thanks!

Yeah, without rads, can be really hard to know, but the right looks likely bad. I thought you said somewhere you had found he only had half pedal bones left? Hairline & feeling pastern bones can give some clue. I've seen feet in that left condition that weren't too bad skeletally & seen others that had less than half of P3 left & proximal end of 2nd phalanx within the capsule! Likewise most horses will be lame to some degree with that sort of degree, but then you get some... Like donkeys - that seem to put up with all sorts without obvious lameness.

I only have speculations on what the coffin bone looks like, Loosie. I would hope there's not much remodeling, but just by looking at the hairline on the RF you can see there is at the very least remodeling/sinking of the coffin bone in that foot. I'll be talking to my friend tonight about getting rads done and I'll be trimming him again tomorrow.

A quick word of caution Bute and minis don't mix well! I have always been told that you should never give a mini bute as it is way to easy to overdose them!

Funny that you mention that, Jayknee. I was reading up on it earlier today and from what I've read I've decided not to give it to him. I don't want to chance overdosing him which is so easy with minis. Thanks!
