So as some of you know, I had been having issues with my new horses feet and the farrier that the barn uses (BO thought they were the greatest thing in the world, I wasn't so impressed). Well, long story short the BO is no longer impressed with them either. The group that my horse is in was scheduled to be trimmed in the beginning of March. The farrier has rescheduled 8 times since then!!!:evil::evil:

BO finally agreed that it was time to find someone new:). The problem is, although we found someone to take on the barn, his schedule is booked solid until June. So we have him scheduled for the first chance we could get him.

BUT, in the meantime, all the horses NEED to be done NOW!!! Which of course messes up the rotation, but that's not a huge deal, one group will just have to get done again sooner than the other one.

Both the BO & I are calling in every favor we have with ppl to try and get someone out there with no luck. We even called the non-reliabel farrier, who said they'd come out. But guess what, that day came and went and no farrier:evil::evil: They called the BO & left a message that they weren't able to make it out because they ran out of gas. They won't come this Fri, Sat, or Sun because of the holiday. The soonest they'd be able to make it out is maybe Tues.

The horses on group #1 are now well over a month over due, and Group #2 is now 2 weeks over due.

Anyone want to come to WI?? I'm getting desperate.

I know, it stinks!! The new person we found has good references, it's just that he's so busy he can't get there any sooner. He was so appologetic on the phone when we called. He did say if anything opened up, he'd call the BO, but I'm not holding my breath.

At least since he's so booked, it seems like he's at least reliable :)

That really stinks Busy. Good farriers are certainly hard to find. My farrier ranks right behind family & vet on my list of important people. I'd bet mine would be willing to travel to WI (he frequently goes to TN, KY, MI, IL, OH for clients) but no doubt it would cost a pretty penny for travel lol!

Take your horse to him, I have done that I don't know how many times. If he can't come all the way out to me, I have met him at the fairgrounds, gravel parking lot at the feed store, where ever he can meet me I will be there. It might sound like you are throwing your rotation buddies under the bus, but I would get my horse done no matter what.
Good luck!

Trust me, I've thought about it! The farrier that we use at my parents (lucky me, i've got a horse on each side of the county:?). But he can't come out until the 16th. At least he has a decent excuse, he's in Florida until the 15th.

Guess who came yesterday??? Oh, and guess who raised their rates?!?!

I wasn't able to be there last night, so I can't wait to see what Dally's feet look like. I'll try and get decent pictures this time!
