White debris on bottom of hoof?

I was picking out my horse's hooves today, and noticed this white chalky debris which easily came off. Parts of it were in chunks which looked like rocks at first. I lunged her and she was great, no lameness whatsoever. I've never seen this before which is why I was somewhat worried it could be a sign of thrush, although there was no odor or black on top over the white debris. The only thing over was some dirt.

Is this anything I should be concerned over?

Thank you!

It could just be the sole exfoliating. I can't find a good picture of it though. Freaked me out the first time I saw it too.

Sounds like exfoliating sole. Like Poseidon says, it sends up a red flag the first time you see it, but it's perfectly normal. It's the hoof shedding excess sole. Usually is accelerated or more pronounced if it's been wet where you are.

Yep. Exfoliating sole. Often alarming if the horse had a bunch of false sole buildup but perfectly normal.

Yes no worries. Often horses exfoliate in chunks when the weather changes - it dries out or such. Often they're suddenly 'overdue' for a trim then, so may pay to get the farrier soon.

The only thing is I recently had her hoofs trimmed a week ago, so that shouldn't be a problem!
