I am not completely sure what this stuff is, it's white, pasty, moist but a bit crumbly, it was on the outside of the hoof right before the skin, and on the heel where the skin meets the frog. the vet is coming next week, but i can't wait until then! does anyone know what this might be and how should i treat it? here are some pictures:
It's overly wet hoof cuticle. It is normal and will go back to looking normal once the hoof has a chance to dry out for a time. My horses all looked like that for almost a year last year, we had so much rain...
Agree with others, but if you're still concerned that it may be fungal or such, a bit of Tea Tree Oil or such wiped around the hairline won't hurt & will kill/deter any minor infection.
