Anyone comfortable doing human portraits???

I was just contacted about a commission for a portrait of a 20 month old little boy who sadly passed away earlier this year. I just don't feel comfortable enough with human subjects to do them on a commission basis. Once in a while I can pull it off if the animal is the main subject, but I just don't feel comfortable taking on this project, especially with the emotional impact this little guy will evoke.

So, if anyone here is comfortable with human drawings, please let me know. I am going to check in with the lady and see if she'd like to go through someone else. If you have a web site, please post it here.

Thanks,

Liz

Liz you could try Confuscious here, she does some beautiful graphite work and the human portraits I have seen from her have been really stunning!

I paint portraits. I have posted a portrait in my photo album with my profile that I painted of my grandaughter.

I do animals and people! I will attach a few past commissions. I work in charcoal and pastel, mainly. But I've used just about everything.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I asked the lady if she wanted to go through another artist, but at this time she wants me to give it a try. Under normal circumstances I would have probably said no, but this is such a touching and sad story. I couldn't say no. I'm going to give it a try. If for some reason it doesn't turn out right, I will deinfately refer her to all of you and let her choose.

Thank you. I definitely am comfortable doing portraits. I have been doing them for the past 25 years. I am presently working on another one now. I wish you the best.

Hey Liz-been a long time! I wish you the best of luck with your portrait, would love to see how it's coming! If you find yourself needing anyone down the road you've got my info

The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. ~Aristotle
