Wow, thanks SMF! Mostly I used a hard brush with relatively low opacity so I could go over and then smudged it. However, I think I over-smudged :).

    Your avatar is absolutely beautiful!

On a completely different note, because my computer is set to Australian time, you supposedly posted that at three in the morning, lol.

And here is my work on the face of my new guy. It was supposed to be palomino but turning darker than I thought. NOT happy with the darker nose, it should have more of a 'slope' to it, I think...

ETA this killed the quality, as per usual.

Ah, I see what program are you using? Usually smudging is not suggested for more detailed area like the face it's rather suggested use a low opacity layering and on-canvas blending technique.
And thanks, You can see the full piece in my avatar here on my own critique thread: Most recent painting (critique please?)

That newer one looks good, looks like you are paying attention to detail on the face. With horses, the most detail is usually the face and legs.

Ps: I didn't post that a 3am, lol, it think is more like 3pm, idk

Thanks! I loved your thread, I think I commented.

I use Gimp. I'll try working on the low-opacity brush, I noticed that in your painting and thought it looked great.

You posted that one at two in the morning :) which by my calculations made it midday.

Hm, I haven't updated this in ages...I haven't done any art in ages on digital though. I'll put up my most recent (and favourite!) graphite one on the weekend.
