Emily's Art Journal

I'll start just by posting something I did today.

It took about two hours and should've been done slower with more patience. I'm still adjusting to the medium of coloured pencils. This is my first coloured pencil realism drawing, and drawing period of a horse.

I may or may not finish it, but I'll probably just start another one.

Good, I think you should finish it for sure.

I really like your bold use of colors as well as your shadowing. Keep it up! It looks great so far. Just out of curiosity, what colored pencils do you use?

Thanks =]

They're Prismacolors but I really prefer Faber Castells, as far as the 'cheap good-quality' pencils go. Prismas lately (they were sold out to a different company right?) have been very brittle and soft to the point of falling out half the time I sharpen them.

I'm hoping maybe I'll be able to salvage a bit of the stuff I've already done by trying to add a bit more color and blend it some more. Patience is what kills me, and I think that hindered a lot of it with my quick-rush to get things done, because for me there's always a real tangible difference when I rush and when I take my time.

The colour looks beautiful, don't give up on it! Finish it and I'm sure you'll be proud of the end result.
