I was just interested in finding out how many of you guys have ever boughten a portrait of your horse, dog etc. or is considering it in the future if you like the artist?

Also, if possible an image and price? (if not, doesnt mater)

Thank you!

I have and I will again in the future.

I paid £500 for an oil painting of stan. And I fully intend on getting anouther one done of him.
A friend of mine paid £200 for a pastel drawing of her horse

Both pictures are incredible. Extremely detailed and basicly masterpieces that we will treasure forever.

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT

Kayty on here, did a beautiful pastel portrait of my Rex for me. She charges roughly $140AU if I remember correctly. Well worth it though.

I do commission work of pets, and have been flat out for the last 6 months with commissions. There is quite a market once you know where and how to advertise!
I think that commissioned hand drawn portraits of an animal are more special than a photograph, when you can find a genuinely good portrait artist, the personality and emotion of your pet is enhanced and really brought forward in a portrait as opposed to a photograph. I also think there is something about someone having spent tens of hours working on capturing your beloved pet that makes it even more special
