This painting has been two years in the making! Actually, it took me two years to track down the client! In 2010, I donated two commission up for bid at the Louisville Luncheon - a benefit - but never heard from the winning bidder who won the commissions. In late December, she found me and we decided instead of doing two, she would have one large one done of her son winning the World Championship Juvenile 5-gaited class when he was nine. With great photos she sent ( of the horse but not so good of her son ) I got it done. I visited the son's Face Book page and found some better photos of him and I can finally put this one in the books and ship!
It's oil on canvas, 30" x 36"...
Truly amazing, Its a positive thing that i'm jealous lol. i draw myself and LOVE to draw horses. I draw creatively, but look at pictures most of the time. I get so frustrated when the realistic-ness of my drawings is strained because of fine lines, shadow and shine.
Could you give me your input on how to get those fine lines and details so precise ?
You make oils look effortless. I couldn't stand them!
Anyways though, this is beyond spectacular. The painting has a softness to it that is beautiful. You have my praise, that's for sure!
By the way...I noticed you've got iowa listed for location...near dyersville? I'm in that vicinity, just curious
Absolutely stunning work - you are very talented with oils, I don't know how you have the patience!!! Your client would have had to have been thrilled with this piece
Thank you everybody for the comments!!! I jump on and off the computer so have to catch up now and then! I'm working on three more commissions...then I'm free to do a "whatever I want " painting!!!
