new charcoal sketch (WIP) (almost finished) :D

I'm really enjoying working in charcoal now - this is only my third time using charcoal so please don't be too harsh but I would appreciate constructive criticism

Its also really hard to get a good photo of it (im just using my phone camera)

Love it What colour is the horse you are drawing?

Cross Country- The act of hurling yourself and your equine partner at a stationary object with poise and grace while attempting to survive...

Looks great! Charcoal is fun to work with when you get the hang of it. I love conte and china marker a lot too!

As for some critique, I think the bridle could really be accentuated so that it doesn't just fade into the horse. You don't have to be extreme and make it draw attention away from the horse but adding some contrast to the bridle (making it darker, different line direction there etc) can really add some interest to the piece!

I love it. The angle is awesome. My favorite drawings are the ones taken from unique angles.
I'll be keeping and eye on it to see how you finish it up-whether you're planning to blend it or leave it as is.
Can't wait and awesome work.

Tip-wise my biggest thing is not to overwork your drawing. I really love the un-blended pieces but it's so hard for me not to blend it all together! I've had quite a few pieces that have looked great until I start blending then it just looks wrong.
So in a nutshell-learn to walk away and say it's done!
But I think that for not doing that much with charcoal you're work is great...and will keep getting better and better as you go.
