My fiance is a ceramics artist and has done some work with raku firing using horse hair. I am personally obsessed with it, absolutely love it.
A dear friend of ours lost her horse last year, and she asked him to make a vase with some of Bird's hair (bird was the horse). It got me to thinking about what a beautiful and useful tribute this could be.
My question to you all is this: Would having a vase (or other ceramics piece) with some of your horse's hair burnt into it be of interest?
This image is not one of Sean's pieces, I don't have a photo on this computer, but this is the same style and the same technique. This artist is Lisa Dempsey.
