WIHS poster contest

Well, although my design wasn't chosen for the WIHS this year, I just received an e-mail that it was a finalist. I am actually thrilled considering I painted it literally the day before the deadline. A friend of mine sent me the link for the contest and I just waited until the very last minute to actually do anything.

This is an 18 x 24 acrylic painting I did. Had I been given more time, I probably would have added some level of a background, but I am happy all the same. This is my first time ever doing a poster design.

The teaser is that I can't reap the benefits of my prize for being a finalist. The committee offered to send me 4 tickets to the event and participate in the art exhibit. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take the time off work or afford the trip. I am going to send the original painting to the committee so they can at least put it in the exhibit, even if I can't be there.

Anyway, here is what I managed to whip out in a day...lol.
