Actually those leasing can be a nightmare for barn owners. BO's often have to clean up after the leasor, put tack away, shut doors, gates, etc. They tend to bring buddies out and everyone gets to take a turn riding . . .

Horse owner gets ticked when Blaze isn't cooled off or brushed properly and the BO gets the brunt of the anger.

The BO very likely put the new policy up front to keep everyone on the same page. Proactive instead of reactive.

This makes me realize how lucky I am. My TWH is boarded for $100 a month, and each of my minis for $50 a month. The place is the fanciest, but it works for me and the BO/trainer/riding instructor is just great. I couldn't ask for anyone better.

If I boarded, there would be no leasing. I control whom and whom does not enter my property. There are liability issues and insurance companys may cancel if they find out there is leasing going on. The rates are more expensive for leasing, multiple people out on the property. Insurance rates are over the top for horse property and when add boarding, care and control coverage.. its just a crime !
