Exclamation Need to find horse boarding near wilkes barre pa

I'm moving to college in a month and plan to bring my horse with me. I'm going to Kings college in Wilkes Barre PA. I'm not from the area so I wouldn't know of any more private farms that may not be listed online. After visiting 10 farms I had researched last weekend and coming up with nothing, it's safe to say I'm extremely frustrated. I can't find anything of good quality any closer than an hour away. I was hoping to keep the drive 45 minutes away or under. If anyone has any insight to any nice farms in the area with a decent sized indoor with good footing, and with ample turnout for my expressive APP/TB cross, it would be greatly appreciated. I wasn't expecting this to be so hard because there is plenty of land in Pennsylvania. I was clearly mistaken and now I'm scrambling. Please help!

Welcome to my neck of the woods (soon). There are definitely a few boarding stables towards the Back Mountain/Dallas area. Have you tried looking there? It's about 20 minutes from Wilkes Barre.

I don't board my guys so I'm not entirely familiar with all of the places, but I've heard of people boarding at Borrowdale and Peaceful Valley Eq. Center. There's another place up near Harvey's Lake and at least two places out in Sweet Valley which is another 10 minutes or so.

Your best bet might be to contact a tack shop and see if they have a listing. The local one here usually has a ton of names on the community board. Hope you find something!

Royal Rock Equestrian Center is near there, Royal Rock Equestrian Center. That's the only one I know of offhand in the area though.

swimminchikin- Now that I think about it I remember passing an agway during my search. I might call them and see who they are delivering grain to in the area. Thanks!

albertaeventer- I just looked up Royal Rock Equestrian Center. It looks like one of the nicer places I have seen and not too bad of a drive! I can't believe I never found that one online somewhere. They must not advertise. I'm going to call them now! Thanks for the input!

kassierae- I'm going to look at Birchtown stables this coming weekend. It's about an hour away. I'm willing to pull off the drive as long as my little guy has a good home. If you know of any places feel free to let me know and I may go look while up in the area this weekend!

Thanks to all three of you for your responses. I appreciate all of your help! The things we do to make sure our horses are well taken care of:)

I am currently at a small, private barn in CT. I love it. I haven't missed the large show/lesson barns what so ever. It's only the owner's 3 horses and my guy so just the four of us. The owner is away a lot so I ride her horses and help out and can board for free and the place is gorgeous! I'm going to have to readjust to actual boarding again!
