Sorry to vent, but I need to get this off my chest. I'm so frustrated with something and I can't do anything about it.
I boarded my Clydesdale at a family farm that my daughter found. I work with one of the boarders who has now become the farm owner. To make a long story short, she and I didn't communcate well as she decided that since I had very little experience with horses she was going to give me pushy, unasked for advice that ended up all incorrect information. Also, she would do things, apply medication etc., make decisions such as what kind of fly mask she should wear, to the point where she would take off mine and put one on she approved of. She also allowed my horse to be chewed up (literally) by another horse that they decided to board for the winter, to which I never received a phone call to let me know, nor an apology. I did take pictures.
I know that she has some experience with horses, she owned one years and years ago and she has two now. I have seen her with her horses and she has a very heavy hand. I've seen her slap other horses in the face, hit them with a whip to get them to move. She worships Parelli and if I didn't do things his/her way, I would have to hear about it. My horse wouldn't go anywhere near her and I made it clear to the barn owners at the time that if I ever found out she had struck my horse, there would be problems. My horse is a very mild gentle horse, so she would have had no cause.
We used to go on trail rides with a bunch of people and she often had a hard time with her horse bucking constantly, fighting the bit, refusing to move forward (to which she would slap the horses face until it moved) etc.. Her horse was amazing in the round pen and would do everything but flips for her there, but mounted wasn't very well behaved.
Now that I have moved my horse, which was very dramatic because of her outbursts and unprofessional behavior, I see that she is advertising herself to:
Give riding lessons: she has no training, nor does she have any OEF levels completed or any kind of proper training techniques to justify people paying her money to teach her children or adults how to ride.
Training: I don't feel she is anywhere near qualified to charge for horse training as her past behavior of bullying her own horse to get it to do what she wants, shows. Again, she has no education or enough experience in training a horse to be able to charge money to someone else.
Trail riding 101 for horse and rider advice: how can she justify giving this kind of advice when she isn't even in control of her own horses when she is trail riding. I've been on trails with her and her horses and he horses are horrible on the trails. (Kicking other horses while mounted, bucking etc.)
The kicker, that's really upset me is she has told people that she is getting a diploma for equine nutrition from a Univeristy in the UK. I looked it up and it's a FREE online program, no text books, just requested reading and it's not a diploma, it's a certificate of achievement. This program isn't even accredited, but she's saying that you can inbox her and she will come to your farm to give you nutritional advice for your horse. Based on what???????????
I can't say anything, because I do work with her and and I don't want any problems at my place of employment and I shouldn't let this get to me, so I've removed her from Facebook etc., so I don't have to see her bogus posts anymore. I also know that this shouldn't upset me as much as it does, but I can't help but feel sorry for the people that she dupes into believing she is qualified for all of these things and actually gives her their money.
Ok, it's out of my system....thank you for giving me a place to vent. =D
