Yeah, I've sent private messages before. I just never thought to do that as a means of giving my notice. Makes sense, though.

I'm basically trying to avoid the overlap in board payments. I guess I'll have to play it by ear. Too bad I can't move on October 1, but there's no way I can do that reasonably after work. I did speak to the new BO and she will prorate if I move in before or after the 1st. Then, it's just dependant on what the current BM says.

If it helps, I always let them know the day I'm planning on moving him. If I paid for the month of September already and I move him early, so be it. If I move him into October, I always pay the difference for the # of days he stayed.

    Just how I operate.

As long as you give advanced notice, as per contract, then you're golden.

I finally did it and sent a FB message to the current BM giving me 30 days. I feel bad because the driving force behind me leaving is...well...driving! This new place cuts my drive in half from work (and it's still 30 minutes!). This is the first time in the 3.5 years that I've had my horse that I'm moving, basically, just to move. I moved from the first barn because I moved almost 50 miles south. The second one, they changed rules and I sent him to a trainer. Then, I left the trainer when summer hit and daycare cost as much as training (guess which one won that battle, lol). He's been at this current place since then. So a year this past July. I feel bad moving him. The current BM is very familiar with Arabs (VERY uncommon around here) and she and one of her daughters showed Arabs Class A for a while. The new BO said, "Oh! We had an Arabian here once. It's was only part, but it was a very pretty horse!" (Oh dear!)

My sanity is suffering, though, with the amount of driving and I hate that I'm only getting out there once, *maybe* twice, each week because it's just too much driving to do regularly and still see my husband and daughter before bed. I just hope she doesn't hold it against me or think I'm leaving for any other reason. Plus, 2 horses just left a couple of weeks ago and another one left either this weekend or will leave this week. They're all for very different reasons and none are a result of the care at the barn. It just feels so strange to be moving my horse for my own reason rather than because I really needed to (distance, training, etc).

I did let her know that I was moving him to do less driving and the exact date I'm planning to move him. I also offered to pay for the extra days into the next month since it's the third now.

So far it's okay. I gave my notice at the current place. She seemed fine with it and was nice in her response on fb. I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks now, so I don't know how she'll be when I do see her again. I have arranged with the new place to pick up my horse on the 29th. I'm going to start moving my stuff over the next couple of weeks and taking stuff I don't use back home. I won't have as much space for my stuff, so I'll have to find a new home for a bunch of stuff, like my 5' upright tack box.

I was able to get all of my questions cleared up with the new BO. She said the contract was the first one she ever made when she built the place 5-6 years ago and a lot of the things she has in there no longer apply. The blanket thing is one of them, thankfully.

    Thanks for asking!
