unhappy at a friends barn, do I move?
I bought a horse last december and started to board her at my friends place. She charges $180 a month plus feed, she has a stall for the winter (but they don't clean it properly, they leave all the wet shavings and make everyone else clean it that way too), no blanketing, round bales outside, strict rules, no arena just trails, they deworm, and make evryone use the same farrier. I feed and do stalls once a week to keep the board lower. Sadly my mare had to be put down in april. They were very nice about keeping a stall for me (not that they could have filled it anyway) with out charging me until I got another horse. They end of may I got another mare, but she was barely green broke. As there is no arena I find it hard to train her to do more then a walk. I think I should have lessons to help us but I am not aloud to have a coach come to the barn. So I want to move barns because they keep giving me a hard time about things. And my new mare is a little arab and the round bale feeders give her sores on her neck because she is short and her halter rubs on her face, but they wont do anything about it and they make her wear her halter 24/7. They cut a lot of corners. The stable where I have lessons charges $300 out door board (which is better for my mare because she cribs if inside), plus feed, they have round bales, indoor and outdoor arena, trails, jumps, coaching, blanketing, and I really like it there. But if I leave my friends barn I feel it will take a toll on our friendship, but I am not happy there. And I need her schooled properly because I will be using her for some of my university courses so I NEED her to be farther along in training. My friend is only 17 and thinks she knows it all but is wrong about a lot, and the other barn the lady is really experienced and I trsut her way more. What would you do?
