Aborting after 60 days?

Can you safely abort a pregnancy after 60 days?

No I did not breed I'm asking because a friends mare may have been bred by a stud belonging to a neighbor about 2 month as ago. He is just now telling her the stud who was supposed to be gelded is now intact.

I guess her vet does not believe in aborting but she wants to if it is safe. And can't get it done.

Has the mare been checked to be in foal? Is it not possible for her to contact another vet and discuss this with them as well? I believe that lute should ideally be done before 30 days, and after 30 it takes multiple shots over a period of days and it's still not guaranteed to cause termination of the pregnancy.

She was just informed today that the mare may have been bred. So no she has not had the vet out "yet"
She plans to have him out asap.

What I would do would talk to and get a vet out that is fine with aborting, tell them the situation, have her checked, and if she IS in foal then go from there.

After 60 days I, personally, would not risk an abortion. Hopefully, she's not in foal.
