For All Those Who Know Appaloosa Bloodlines...

Can you guys who know Appy bloodlines and pedigrees check my horses pedigree? How good is it?

Her name is EC Araphostardust
Sire: Chinootka Bay
Dam: Blue Winds Misty Gal

Also, does anyone know the owner of either sire, dam or both? I know the sire is in Wisconsin, that's where my girl was born and brought up from. Thanks!

Last I knew Chinootka Bay was owned by Don and Christy Ehlers in Iron River, WI. It appears that their website is down-- the family had some health problems and I am not sure if they are still breeding Appaloosas or not, but the last contact info I have for them is:

Don and Christy Ehlers
74605 Airport Road
Iron River, WI 54847

(Don was an ApHC National Director and this was published info in at least 2 years worth of Appaloosa Journals, so I am not providing anything unlisted. I think I can find a phone number too-- not sure how current it is, but if you want it, email me at )

Given the "EC" in your mare's name, I would guess she was bred by the Ehlers, as they called their ranch "Ehler's Crossing", IIRC. I do know they at one time owned your mare's dam, but I can't find any photos or info on her.

The breeder of your mare's sire Chinootka Bay was Verna Roberts in Oregon. I visited her in 1997 and saw both SS Bodegah Bay (your mare's grandsire) Toby's Nootka (great grandsire). They were both big sweet substantial stallions. Here is a photo of SS Bodegah Bay after Verna sold him,
Bodegah Bay

And also Toby's Nootka, after Verna sold him--

Your mare does not have any current show/performers "close up" in her lineage, but her extended pedigree has several well known Appaloosa show and performance bloodlines. If you go to the allbreed pedigree link Barrelracer Up posted, you can see some photos and details on her ancestry.

Hope that helps!

OK here is a link with the Ehler's phone number and address so you don't need to email me for it (again I am not sure if its current, but at least its the same number I have for them)--
