Anyone willing to do an AHA lookup?

I am wondering if anyone with an AHA membership would be willing to lookup a possibly registered horse? I was going to pay the fee to do it but due to recently finding out I was not told the truth about a lot of the information about my rescue mare, I am not even sure if she is actually registered now. I am mostly concerned with her age, her breeding would be good information but due to health issues her age is most important right now.

I was told her registered name is LA Lizzy but I found that the breeding farm she came from has NV in front of a lot of their registered horses. But I do not know if she was born there or not.

I have been told she is 19 years old and she is a flea bitten grey with white on all four legs, front has less than back. She was a broodmare for many years but I have no idea if the foals were registered.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

I have a Data Source subscription and I looked for your mare. First with someone who owns an NV horse, then back through his breeder and I found no reference to an LA Lizzy with that breeder. I then did a partial name search using, LA L>>>> and mare and grey and came up with nothing. I'm sorry!

Thank you so much. I had a feeling she might not be there. Unless she didn't start out grey? Hmmm well I really hope she's not older than I've been told.

Even if they're not born gray, there are indicators at birth that the horse will gray out. She'd have been registered as a gray if she was registered at all.

My Arab gelding was chestnut at birth, but registered as a gray because all the indicators were there. at 14 y/o, he's a fleabitten gray. He was a dark, steel gray when I got him at 5 y/o. By 10 y/o, he'd grayed out to fleabitten. Age has little to do with how gray a horse is or isn't.

My mare was not registered grey even with a grey sire. She is registered sorrel and is DEFINITELY grey. It happens in other registries, but I'm not familiar with AHA.

Any knowledgeable breeder should know whether or not a foal is going to gray out. Heck, I'm not a breeder and I can pretty well figure out by looking at a foal if it's going to go gray. The indicators aren't hard to pick out.

That isn't always necessarily true. Some foals do not display the "typical" grey indicators early on such as goggles, etc. In fact, some are outright impossible at first. My mare was registered the same month she was born, and had not yet displayed the typical traits.

Her breeder was/is very knowledgeable in my opinion, but I do think it was kind of careless. Still, it happens. Isn't that big of a deal to correct later on, so it IS possible that the OP's horse was registered with its base color.

It happens, even in AHA, but since grey is soooo common in Arabians it's not maybe real prevalent.

I checked from 1985 on up. There are also 670 grey mares with the prefix LA in front of their names. I checked that way too and looked in case she might be a 1/2 Arab. Zip all around. If you can get any more info, I'll be happy to try again and see if I can get any further. The closes I got was La Isla something, was thinking maybe they called her La Izzy, but she had no white on her legs at all.

I was hoping that the NV might be a clue because the person I know that owns a well known stallion with NV in front of his name is a fairly large breeder and has a bunch of broodies. The stallions breeder has been around since the 70's at least, maybe even the 60s and they've owned/bred a lot of horses and I found a couple they had bred with the LA prefix on them, but not anything close to LA Lizzy, Elizabeth, Lisabete or anything like that.

Thank you. I will definately try to get more info. I'm really concerned she's older than they say. She was seized from the breeding ranch here and I found NV was a prefix on a lot of his horses but I have no idea where she was born.

I'm going to email the rescue and find out how they came up with her name. I can't think of any other registry she would be on. They claim she's all Egyptian but who knows, she's definately an Arab though.

I've had trouble getting weight on her and the vet wanted to make sure she wasn't older. I didn't have him look at teeth yet as I still thought she was registered and 19 years old.

PM me the name of the person whose horses were seized and I'll make sure that's who I checked. If not, I'll also check that name. If you're talking a seizure in MN then I guarantee you I was looking at someone else. They were in CA.
