I am looking for a stallion to breed to 3-4 years from now. I realize that industry bloodline preferences can change a lot in that time. Just was curious as to feedback and to see if anyone had actually seen foals by these studs.
Before breeding anything, I consider: bloodlines, conformation, long-term soundness, movement, trainability, and temperament. I believe that all of those factors are equally important and none can be overlooked. I also believe that your mare should be equal in quality to your stallion, or you have no business breeding in the first place.
I currently have a broodmare prospect right now. She's too young and unproven right now to breed to anything. I do not believe in breeding mares until they have been fully finished under saddle and proven to be sound for the long term, trainable, and good minded. I can't say for sure that I will end up breeding until I know how she turns out. Here's what I can tell you:
Lucy is a 2yo black filly out of Artful Investment- who is a proven sire within the QH industry. Her sire has 5 World Championships and over 2500 AQHA points. She is very conformationally correct, has great suspension at the trot, and drives deep at the canter. A pretty, pretty mover. With what we have done with her limited groundwork- she is very good minded and very quiet for an appendix. Probably her greatest downfall in terms of a show horse is that she sticks 15.2h right now. She will mature over 16h but may not approach the 17h mark that is big at the QH shows right now.
I have been looking for a broodmare prospect for the last 2 years. I ask that before you all recommend that I buy something instead of breeding and contributing to overpopulation, you consider the fact that I currently buy and start 4-5 prospects per year...and have the knowledge and skill to do my own training. I'm one of the good guys
They are all really nice. I think if you have a good mare you could get a nice foal by any of them. I voted for Hot Ones Only. It was a hard choice between him and the other Invitation Only horse. I do love Invitation Only horses.
I like the only escape best. Hot ones Only had a long neck, which would be nice if you have a mare w/ a short neck like I do... but my fave was the only escape...
