breeding mare with offset forelegs?...

I have a young WB mare who is offset in both front legs (bench knees). By this I mean the cannon bone is not centered under the knee, it is offset to the outside. They are not badly offset, I have seen horses with worse offset front legs but the fault is there. If she was just an average mare I wouldn't bother breeding from her due to the fault however the mare is pretty top class apart from the front legs. All her other confirmation is really good, temp is great, movement is really good, type is excellent & comes from a really good performance family etc. I bought her as a competition horse & planned to breed from her mainly via ET with the plan of maybe keeping the odd really good foal & selling the others. When we bought her as a young foal the fault in her front legs wasn't noticeable.

Do you think it would be wise to breed from this mare, knowing she has a confirmation fault which could potentially be passed on to the foal?...

Any advice appreciated.

With the horse market like it is now, I wouldn't. Even if the market was good, I wouldn't. A top class horse with great papers and a serious confo fault is still nothing more than a horse with a serious confo fault. If she had something that had been caused by an injury, then yeah, breeding might still be an option but with it being a genetic thing, IMHO, it would be too big a risk. Would it really be worth it to spend the stud fee and the cost to have the ET done only to have a foal with the fault that was worse than the mare's and would never be sound?
