Brown sticky discharge

I have a 14 year old mare that I bred this spring. She is now approximately 8 months pregnant. Ocassionally Te has been having a brown discharge that runs down her legs. It is thick and a brownish color, but does not smell. She eats normal and her temp. Is normal. Her pee is a rich brownish color and has a stong odor. I told my vet I thought she had a bladder infection and he seems to think the same. He told me to treat her with 20cc of penicillin for 4 days. It has been day two now and I still don't see a decrease in the discharge. I was wondering if I should wash the discharge off and wrap her tail beause she is just a mesh back there and I feel bad for her. Any suggestions on what I should do? I know she has not miscarried because every night when I grain her the baby moves and kicks! Open to any suggestions....

Green Broke
She needs to be seen by the vet, a urine culture done and all. I would wrap her tail up and make sure it's vaginal discharge not fecal just getting spread. Take her temp as well...

Her temperature is fine. I am going to have the vet out but they are closed today and through the holiday

It always amazes me how our animals always seem to pick the most inconvenient times to get ill. I have a Siamese cat who times his worst asthma attacks for Sundays. Sometimes I wonder if someone has been dragging him off to church (That's give me an asthma attack PDQ too.)
Good luck with this one, hope she's OK.

How's your mare doing? Still having the discharge?

If your vet actually hasn't seen your mare in person or analyzed the discharge I highly recommend that you get her in to be seen as soon as you can.
