Question Can anyone tell if she looks pregnant, ive had a few people say so??

Ive had a few people say my mare looks pregnant, could she be pregnant or just on the chunky side, to me she just looks like a little bit of a fatty(?

Short of a picture of feet coming out her hind end, it's virtually impossible to tell for sure if a horse is pregnant by looking at some photos. If you're worried she might be, then it's time to get the vet out to double check and then get her the shots she needs during pregnancy...if she is.

Has she been in the vicinity of a stallion?
Then no, she's not pregant.

You consider that fat? You should see my pregnant GELDING.

I very much doubt your mare is pregnant. Look up a few threads on the site and you will see pictures of some mares that look very pregnant indeed.

Ahem. Around here, we call that "in good weight" or "in good flesh", not fat.

Nothing about that mare's photos make me think she's in foal.

However, if she had been bred in April, May or June, the times accidental breedings are most likely to catch, she'd hardly be showing now anyway.

If she's been exposed to a stallion, have a vet check her. Same if you recently acquired and you have no idea about her stallion exposure. If she's been under your supervision for the last 10 - 11 months, and there's no likely "baby daddy", I wouldn't worry about it.

That mare does not look pregnant to me. She doesn't even look fat in those pictures. If she is not pregnant ,and the only way to tell is to have her checked, keep doing what your doing. She looks great. Shalom
