    changing the ownership/reg. name?

Im just going to take a guess that this thread belongs on this board, because breeders must know something about registration. :S

A few months back, I purchased a 20 month old egyptian arabian mare (she is now 28 months old) from an auction, she came with papers. The name of the original owner is still on her papers (she went from the location where she was born, to a man in NJ, to us.) and I need to change it to be under the name of my boss.

Now, he has done it before, but he told me to do it, and I just can not figure it out on the AHA website. :S I know, im dumb.

I'd like to change her name, if possible. Its a bit erm.. boring. "Luna of Windy Acres", of course I would keep the "Windy Acres" or at least the "WA" in it, but I can't figure this out either.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Hi,
First off, did the recorded owners sign the back of her registration papers? If not, you need a signature. If they did sign, did they date it? If they dated it some time back, you may need to pay the higher transfer fee. Transferring is $15 for an AHA member if it is within 6 months of the sale date, or $40 if after 6 months from the sale date.

You send in the registration papers with the back signed and your new owner info filled in, the approriate fees, and once processed the AHA sends a new set of papers back to you listing you as the recorded owner.

You can, at the same time, change the name for $100, (AHA member price) assuming the horse has not had registered offspring or competed at Arabians shows or etc.

Here are the AHA website instructions for changing the name of a registered Arabian.

    Here are the fees--

    Hope that helps!
