I personally am not as against a long back as some users on this forum are.
If it is something in conformation that you are not fond of then avoid horses with long backs, its just that simple.
Some would say my mare has a long back, while others would disagree, I say she has just the right length of back for me :)
You also want to watch how the horses you are interested in breeding preform whatever skill they are used for. Just because they do it or are bred to do it does not mean they are good at it or can do it correctly.
