Clydesdale/Spotted Saddlebred X On Marestare!

Nicky, a rescue by Connecticut draft Horse Rescue ( "You can't change the world by rescuing one horse, but for that one horse, its world is changed forever..." - CDHR ) had her foal today! It's a gorgeous brown and white pain colt! You can watch Annie and her foal here, on marestare CT Valley Equine Veterinary Services Cam 1 . Also, if you are able to like them on facebook, then you can get updates by the rescue!

Just read on facebook that it looks like this colt was born with his dam's eye defects. He's probably blind.

I hope that the previous owner thought she was blind due to ERU. How truly horrible if they knew she had a genetic problem and bred her anyway.

Yea, it's a shame, but Annie has a great home waiting for her, and I'm sure that gorgeous of a foal will adopt out soon!

The logistics of a foal being able to navigate the world when it has had no input from its eyes is slim to none, based on experiences I've had with dogs born blind.

Brains don't develop right for one thing, too much is lacking, and it would have been better if this mare had not been bred, and the foal did not survive.

Too many sighted horses needing homes for this one to be much in demand I'd wager.
