    Colly's breeding adventures

Hello most of you have read my other thread about my mare but for those who haven't. I am planning on breeding my registered mustang mare Colorados Ace of Spades to a registered Quarter Horse stallion named HH Remington Blue. Here is some info about him: . Born in 2009. He is 5 disease panel tested N/N. Color tested Homozygous black Dunskin... He cannot produce a red based color. 96% FQHA. Has sired 3 gorgeous correct foals. Well balanced, athletic. I just got a message from his owner yesterday that she will be able to pick Colly up and take her to her farm on Sunday. I am so excited and can not wait for her to be bred. I am planning on keeping the foal and using it as my own pleasure horse and as my sisters 4h futurity project. Be prepared for lots of pictures as this will be my first time breeding and my first foal..while not the first foal I have handled/worked with... and I'm just a tad excited!! :) While I don't really mind about color I was very happy to see that Colly has the potential to throw some pretty colored foals she has a 12.5 percent chance to throw: smoky grullo, smoky black, grullo, dunskin, buckskin, black, bay dun, and bay. I'm hoping for either a grullo, black or buckskin and colt or filly doesn't matter much but I'm leaning more towards a colt. What do you guys think she will have? I'll keep track of the guesses throughout her pregnancy.

I hope they are keeping her and him clean. Sure would be disappointing for her to get an infection from repeated breedings and have her become infertile.

Repeated breedings are not necessary. 1 covering every day to every other day will be just fine and will get her pregnant.

And be prepared for her to be "raw" when she comes home. Have diaper rash cream on hand.
