    Dez and Dreamer's Colt!!

Okay, Born sometime between midnight and 1 am, May 1st. Was I ever surprised when I flicked on the light to check on her before I went to sleep...all I saw was the flicker of white legs!! Dreamer was big, but showed none of the signs of foaling that I had been looking for! She didn't want any help I guess.

These are photos of our newest little family member... beautiful, colorful colt! I am so excited, but I better get some sleep before work in a few hours :)

Boy is he NOT shy at all either! We have got to come up with a barn name for him now...I have a great list of Reg. Names to choose from that you guys helped me with a while ago, but now I have to figure out what to call him on a daily basis :) ideas anyone?

Oh my gosh AK he is just too cute! What a great color pattern.
How about Toot Sweet? He was in a hurry so it kinda fits like in
Taut de suite- def. "at once", "immediately" (per Oxford English Dictionary). Sometimes shortened to tout d'suite (children may say tout suite, pronounced "too sweet")

    From wiktionary:
    Toot sweet

(slang) Real quick, in a hurry.
The train's about to leave; you'd better get down here toot sweet!

    Wow is he a looker!

I love his pattern. In some pictures he seems like a big boy!

    Congrats on the baby!

Thank you guys for all of the great comments. He is so precious!

I am so distracted at work...I just want to get home and see him. Of course it does not help that I got 3 hours sleep last night!

I did show pictures of him to my class today, and gave the kids a spot on the whiteboard to put name suggestions...that has been fun, and helped pass the time. From the kids, I got a lot of celebrity names such as Will smith & Jonny Depp :), but also some cute ones like eclipse and phoenix. I am also interested in mythological names too...always liked those. I sort of like zephyr.

It is so hard to pick what he will be branded with forever!

Oh my gosh vida, toot sweet is such a cute idea...not sure how well it would roll off of my tongue though...I would probably start calling him tootie, which would be funny.

You going to keep him a stallion?

We are not even sure if we are keeping or selling him right now. At the moment, we are just trying to enjoy him :).

If he shows potential as an improvement of dez, we will keep him in tact and watch him as he grows and progresses...If he does turn out to be an improvement on Dez, we would let him stay in tact, and compete on him/use him as a stallion. One area that might make him an improvement on dez is his mom's breeding and really nice hip, but time will tell.

If we sell him, it will most likely be as a gelding (unless he is not descended by the time that we sell)

But, as I said, we are not trying to think about all of that really hard right now...we have a couple of months before any decisions like that need to happen. I am looking forward to showing him in weanling halter in a couple of months!
