Does someone have access to ApHC database?

I'm trying to look up information on a stud that I was given by my father-in-law. My father-in-law had bought the stud from a co-worker (who has the registration papers) but my FIL never got his papers. I don't know the horse's registered name or any of that helpful stuff BUT I do know the co-workers name! I don't know if it is possible to look up a horse through the name in which he is registered but I would appreciate if someone could help me out!

No, you cannot access owner records (such as a list of horses in an ApHC member's name) unless you are the owner and a current member. Sorry.

Can you get his registered name or the beginning of it or a good part of it? The database does not search by keyword, but by first letter of the first word. I will try every spelling I can, and/or can ask a registration person next time I call (which is just about every week). Sometimes if you know some or most of the name AND the current owner, they will cross reference it for you.

Do you know anyone who has offspring of the stallion? They might have papers with his full registered name on it.

No, I don't know any of his registered name or a registration number. And the only offspring I know of belongs to my FIL and the colt is not registered. All I know is the horse's barn name and the owner who has the papers.

Can you contact the owner with the papers? Or maybe your FIL can, since its a co-worker of his? Are they unwilling to turn over papers?

I have my FIL contact him since we are needing hay and the guy sells it so I'll have him slip in about the papers.

I honestly don't know what the deal is with the papers. I went to see my FIL yesterday but he just had surgery and was sleeping off the anesthesia. I'm going back to see him sometime this weekend because I have to take care of some bot fly eggs on Trigger and get his leg taken care of - 99% sure he has a bowed tendon.

I talked to my FIL he doesn't know what Trigger's registered name is and he has on this guy about getting the papers for over a year - he was supposed to the get papers when he bought Trigger. He has really been bugging the guy for the last 4 months about it. Apparently the guy doesn't keep any papers in order, his daughter and wife does. I think my FIL and I will have to make a trip over to the guy's house and have a face-to-face discussion.
