Double Registered?

Hey guys, I don't know a lot about registering young horses or breeding so I was hoping someone could answer my question. If the dam is a paint and the sire is a quarter horse, would the foal be able to be double registered in AQHA and APHA? Or would it only be able to be one of them, if so which one? Does it depend on whether it has colour or not? Thank you

Oh oops, I guess I should have looked at other threads before I posted another. Thank you though.

People repost questions all the time. I was curious to see if you got any differing answers but nope. From what I got out of my question was you can do a QH to a TB (which I knew) for an appendix qh. Or you can do qh to qh. You can go qh to paint for a paint. There are some QH's that are double registered as paints so if you can find one of those (because of the color marking rules) then you can breed the double registered qh to a qh and get both... I think......

Thats what I got out of the thread aswell, I'm hoping the mare is double registered because I'm looking for a quarter horse and not a paint. But I have a feeling she isn't (not my horse, or else I'd know!). Thanks for the info. Breeding can be so confusing...

If the dam is a Paint and the sire is a QH, it will be registered as a Paint (unless the dam also happens to be registered as QH). This is regardless of color. If it ends up being solid, the foal will be registered as solid Paint-bred (formerly Breeding Stock).

This is the exact case of my mare.
