I'd like to thank everyone who has been so supportive of Solei, her progress, her training, and HER accomplishments. They have been hard earned and I have put much time, love, patience, training, and effort into making her the willing, well trained beauty that she is. It would be nice to return to the subject of this thread. She has earned the right to collect her due without interference. Other owners and their horses, in the interest of staying on topic and common courtesy, please start your own threads to discuss them.
Maybe I have been out in the sun too long, but I'm confused here. The subject of this thread is Arlene Magdid's very thorough research of Solei's heritage and accomplishment of her predecesors, a heratige she would not have if not for her sire Ha Le Fire and her dam, KF Tsylent Legacy. Unless I'm missing something here, my posts have been quite on topic, so I am sure you are not suggesting otherwise.

As such, her dam, KF Tsylent Legacy was taken from us four years ago due to a pythium infection like the one that also took her full sister Ha Le Firestorm just this past January. Firestorm is pictured here below at pasture with both Legacy (first on left), Fire (in the middle), and Firestorm (on the right).

Although we did not have Legacy in our lives long enough to enjoy showing and competing with her, we were able to enjoy her as a pleasure horse doing what she loved best, trail riding.

We are delighted that Solei is able to pursue a career in competition when the untimely demise of both her dam and her second sister prevented them from realizing their full potential.

Today was a great training day with Solei, who is an amazingly intelligent mare. Follows without a lead, turns and backs with her handler, without a lead, and is so in sync with her person, it's like having a shadow.. I think I'll have to get together a video...
The trainer has never seen a horse so well trained to body language and subtle cues..
High praise indeed! :)
Again, so much like her sire. I love how when I start thinking about asking for a canter, I can feel Fire waiting for me to ask, and then he practically floats into a canter with just the slightest que. Sometimes, all I have to do is kiss to him and he picks up the canter. And then when I think about asking for a halt, I feel his entire body just waiting for the subtle request. What a joy it is to have such a relationship with this magnifacent creature! We are atuned to eachother whether mounted or on the ground - and I well know the pleasure of having him follow my every move when I'm on the ground as well.

Here's a shot of him following me during a round pen session last summer:

Two horses died from pythium? That's very sad, sorry for your loss. My understanding is that it is not curable?
A pythium infection is usuall fatal. There are cases where it is curable but only if caught witnin a few days of onset. In Legacy's case it was an extremely aggrssive infection as she was fine Friday evening and on Sat AM we received a call from the barn manager that she had a tennis ball sized swelling in her face. On top of that, the vet we had didn't correctly diagnose her. Even if he had, treating it with surgery and medication is still effective in only about 10% of the cases. It is my understanding that Firestorm's infection was in her throat. Legacy still has three offsping out in the world and I hope that they do not share a likelyhood of contracting it as she and Firestorm did.

Your horses are gorgeous. I'm sorry to hear you lost the dam, such a shame. I know nothing about Arabians, but my grandmother has an Egyptian Arabian (I think) at her farm, he's a boarder... Such a personable little character. Sadly, the owner hasn't been there to see him in two years, pays for him & that's it. Still- he's such a happy, goofy little guy, I go ride him & play with him when I can & not a hint of resentment... Just happy to have someone do something with him.
Anyway, back on topic, I think your horses are amazing, good luck with them, they seem like such happy horses. & certainly beautiful & loved :)

QHG - thanks for the compliment and for sharing your story about the Arab in your life. I'm glad that you are able to give him the love and attention his owner doesn't seem to be able to provide. I've found that the Arabs I've known are all very people oriented. I think that is one of the things people who don't like Arabs don't understand - I believe that their fondness for people might make them a little more demanding of our time and attention - at least I know mine are!

I have very much found this to be true over the years with my Arabians. My TB has that 'in your pocket' personality too, so he fits right in. I tell people he's an honorary Arabian.

Dresden - Thanks for your kind words as well. Last year when we were at an Arabian show with Fire and our "new" mare, Kierra, a lady came running up to me while I was untacking Fire between classes saying, "Your horse is my horse's daddy!" She kept hearing Fire's name over the PA whenever he placed so she tracked me down. She owns the only gelding from the four breedigs he shared with Legacy. We became friends and eventually I got to meet Harley again in person. I had originally met him when we bought Fire and Legacy as he had not been sold yet by the lady who bred him and sold Fire and Legacy to us. I'll have to add some of his pictures to this thread if I can remember to upload them!

What a cute story.

Stories like that show just how wonderful the horse world is.

Thanks for the info, Ebneezah. Again, very sorry they were some very nice horses. I love Arabians, mine are always wanting "to help" when I'm trying to work on the fences, etc and they usually come running when I get home from work!
Helping is mandatory for an Arabian! When we were boarding Fire and Legacy with Firestorm, the barn manager said that when she was in the pasture fixing fence, Firestorm would come over and grab her cell phone out of the golf cart! Maybe she wanted her own!
