Our mare is due to foal in late April.
We will not breed her back this year as I don't agree with breeding mares back to back (especially when I intend to use her as a riding horse).
I also have a stallion who is my main riding horse, but I am planning on breeding him to a limited number of mares (other than mine) this year.
Of all of this, I am most excited about the baby! This last couple of months are going to drag by...and then I am going to be losing a lot of sleep in the last days. :) We have a 50% chance of a solid sorrel (with face and leg marks likely) and a 50% chance of a sorrel/white Tobiano baby - my stallion is a paint and our mare is a Quarter horse. Either way, I can't wait to post pictures!
I also worry a little bit about complications during the birth....I guess all I can do is keep the vet on call and hope for the best.
