feeding/vaccinating a pregnant mare

I have a mare that is about 4 months along and I was wondering what kind of shots I should get for her and when I should give them.als oto my knowledge she has not ever had shots before.I was going to order them line but there are so many choices and I'm lost as to when she needs and when.if it matters I live in eastern Tennessee.

Also what kind of vitamins/minerals should I give her? She has free choice hay all the time and she has the pink salt block.I was told calf manna is good for them but that any hay with fescue is bad. But I have no idea what kind of hay my barn uses. I'm so confused. :(

At 5 months copper and zinc is important so a food balancer would be an investment. Also unsure about America but at 5 months dee had her ehv vaccination. This will be repeated at 7 and 9 month and also flu and tet at 10 months.

Since she has never been vaccinated before, you need to talk to a vet on how to go about her vaccinations.

Do you know for sure if she is pregnant...did you have an ultrasound or have her palpated? Im wondering because she hasnt ever had shots...which should have been brought up at the pregnancy check.

Just knowing she was with the stud from x to x date isnt sufficent enough.

Dietary changes shouldnt happen until the last trimester when you increase food. As long as she has a good diet now, there should be nothing that needs changing.

I'd have the vet out to confirm she's pregnant, and discuss with him what vaccines she will need for your area. There are some that are pretty routine for all areas, Flu, Rhino (usually 2 kinds), Tetanus, Sleeping Sickness, Rabies, West Nile and depending on what your vet recommends you may need botulism and Potomac Fever. I give the Pneumabort K shots at 3,5,7,9 months to prevent abortion and then the rest of her yearly shots at 10 months. If your mare truly hasn't ever had her vaccinations your vet may have you give the yearly vaccines more than once, you'll need to discuss it with him.
