Fescue?!?

Ok I'm from Missouri, I've done as much as I could to keep my pregnant mare Cherokee away from fescue but now that the spring grass is coming in. There is a dry lot I can put her in (she is about a month or so out)...is this something I should do? I just want to make sure I'm taking the proper steps. I don't have a foaling barn and her stall is a bit small (10x10). She's got about 40 acres to run and frolic in but the fescue is scaring me:-/

If fescue toxicity is an issue there then you absolutely need to keep her away from it. Your vet can give her a shot that will help with the effects of it if she has already been exposed and feeding on mature fescue.

Green Broke
Kill it and reseed with endophyte free grass.
GhostwindAppaloosa and Merlot like this.
