first heat?

I have a mini mare, she will be one year old in june, I want to put her with her stallion father for the summer. Is it too risky? I do not want her pregnant.

Personally, I wouldn't. Do you HAVE to put her in the same paddock?

She's an intact female and he's an intact male. Expect an inbred foal out of her at 2 y/o if you put her in with her father.

I'm going to go ahead and agree here as well, way to risky. The stallion obviously has bred before which means he is experienced, even though she is a year old she CAN get pregnant.

If you don't want your mini mare pregnant, then do not put her in a paddock with a stallion.
