Internship...

If you had a chance to be at ANY mainstream QH Breeding facility/ranch where would you go?

Babcock Ranch

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Babcock Ranch north of Fort Worth in November, during the APHA Fall World Show. We have friends who work there. It was a wonderful experience; the facility, the horses, and the history there were phenomenal. Got to see Smart Chic Olena in his stall (pic below), and got to see several of the younger stallions at work. One of their interns was from Germany, and she was working on ponying a young colt for the first time...it was a lot of fun to talk to her about the experience.

Also got to see the headstone of a very special Quarter Horse stallion (pic below)...didn't even realize he was buried there (it wasn't Babcock Ranch when he died; was called something else then). He is the grand-sire of our best broodmare; gave me goosebumps to see the headstone.

Here is Smart Chic Olena:

Cool, Babcock is listed as one of the ranches that we may attend, but I'm not sure that I want to go there.
