Gorgeous Dam and Colt!

Oh 1 question...what is around the mare's neck? Just wondering :)

Congrats!! Can't wait for more updates on the other mares and pictures of this little guy as he grows! :)

Looks like a cribbing collar.

It's a leather "collar" with her name on it. We have LOTS of horses here and while I know all of my own horses, I have employees that can't tell one from the other All of our own mares have a leather collar with a brass plate and their name engraved on the plate.

<smile>.... MacabreMikolaj - as lightweight and thin as that leather strap is, it would be one of the most useless cribbing collars EVER and while I recognize that cribbing isn't probably one of the worst vices out there, there is no way I'd ever own a cribber...the outside mares we get in for breeding that crib do more damage to property in a week than all my other mares combined. And I cannot STAND the sound they make.

Hope that helps!

Ahhh, my apologies, that was my second guess but a quick glance it seemed to be just the leather collars with the metal cup underneath the throatlatch. I know I've seen the method used for identifying large mare bands in magazines, just wasn't the first thought that popped to mind!

How stunning! You certain;y do have some beautiful horses (and cunning names). I'm "jelly." <LOL>

Now I see a little Addams Family going on... I think a "Wednesday" is in order in there somewhere! :P
