Arrow Khartoon Khlassic

im new to this site, and would love opinions on a specific breeding combination. If you arent interested in arabians, please do not give me a rude opinion. I have a coming 6 year old in 2012 by DS Major Afire and out of a Barbary daughter (TA Barbarys Touch). I am going to breed her, and I've been looking into a certain stud.. Khartoon Khlassic. My mare is 14.1 hh and she is a chestnut. I am looking for color without comprimise (in conformation). My mare has never been bred before, and of course im going to get a vet check, I want to find a stud first.. thanks (:

i would also appreciate tips as in should I go for in hand or AI, any problems you see with anything, etc..

Without pics of your mare, all I can do is a paper to paper comparison of their pedigrees. I created a link for the possible foal: Fantasy Khartoon Fantasy Khartoon Arabian

The combo pedigree looks like it would give a sport horse but not main ring off spring. Probably would be athletic but not necessarily main ring pretty. I find KK to be rather coarse and thick in the throatlatch. I would cross a mare with a long neck, fine throatlatch and very typey, even preferably exotic face with tiny ears, if I were to use him. I'd also want a really big eye on the mare, and not any history of 'human eye' because he does pass that on.

Your mare is chestnut and he is homozygous for Black & Agouti which means you will get a bay, there can be no other option. If you're mare is also a sabino or at least not a 'white killer' then you could get the extra chrome that makes people either love or hate KK. I love his color, am not crazy about his confo.

I would pick a stallion with a longer, shaplier neck and a much more exotic face to compliment your mare. Most Arabian stallion owners also don't do Live Cover or Pasture Service anymore, most everyone ships semen to the mare for AI. I'd make sure I had a really good repro vet before I even considered breeding the mare as that can get really expensive.

Gorgeous mare!!
She is very English bred, though, and Khartoon throws very Western babies. I would reccomend HG Esquire for your mare! He is Khemosabi bred as well.
