Question Long Gestation Time

My mare has carried her two past colts 353 days each (average gestation is 330 days). Does anyone else out there have a mare who carries her foals this long? Needless to say, I hate waiting for the new arrival.

My mare carried her filly 365 days. She aborted her second so I am not sure how long that one would have gone. Will have to wait until next time and see if she carries that one for a year too.

Mares vary in their gestation, at the breeding farm I worked at if a mare went past 370 days we had the vet out to check up on her, some mares just carry longer than others but if you get worried its best to call a reproduction vet to put your mind at ease.

We have several "12 month mares". They are NOT fun for foal watch, especially when you do it manually.

While arabs and minis tend to average 330, the average for most breeds is 340.

Last year I had a mare foal at 368 days, and the next night another mare foaled at 324 ;) You just never know!
