Foal
Unhappy Lost the baby :'(

Yesterday Vintage foaled a beautiful colt. Rio's Reflection aka Beau was 47 days early and looked just like his daddy. Today she passed a small fetus so it has been confirmed that she was carrying twins. Sad thing is, I had her ultra sounded at 18 days and she did have twins, but when we checked her again the vet said she had reabsorbed one. I know people make mistakes but it's so hard not to be angry and sad those poor babies, especially Beau as the other one was no more than a few months old. He had a heart and a brain and little chin hairs and hair on his perfect little ears. He had two hind socks a little white on the back of his front hoof and a beautiful star. :'( I am so sad that I never got to meet my first foal.

Vintage however is doing good, gave her a bunch of apples and spent an hour grooming her, which she loves. We are keeping a close eye to make sure and I'm having the vet out asap to check her over.

Anyways sorry about the novel, just needed to get it out. I don't know how you guys cope with the regular breedings every year, this one had me really stressed but super excited.

Vint would have been a great mommy, poor thing. :(

I am so sorry for your loss. Mistakes do happen, and it's not worth the heartache to think back to "what if..."

When I was working at a sport horse breeding farm one of their mares delivered premature twins. It was so sad. They are so beautiful, such perfectly formed little things.

I'm glad that your mare is doing well.

Foal
I know he had perfect long legs and a little tail. I know it's not worth it, I keep telling myself not to be angry that's it's nobodies fault. I'm so glad Vinty's okay if she was depressed I would be devastated. :(

Do you have a free rebreeding to the stallion?

Yes I have a life foal garentee I just don't know if I can deal with it. I also have a paid breeding to another stallion(long story) so I may lease her out for that baby and give myself a break.

So both of the babies died? When I was reading it sounded like only the one she passed today was dead but at the end you said she WOULD have been a great mommy.

I to have dealt with twins. But unlike your mine made it full term but still did not survive. It is very hard to deal with. Always look at it that your mare survived. I will keep you and your mare in my thoughts. I would try again. I would let the stallion owner know that she had twins. Since she had twins once she can produce them again. Just always be mindful of that.

I am sorry for your loss.
