Mare Cams

Found this website through another thread on here, but thought I'd share for all of us that are foal crazy! There's ton of LIVE cameras you can watch, you can even send an alert if something begins to happen. Pretty neat, and definitely addicted!

Loving mare stare!

Thanks to some AWESOME HF folks, I learned of "Mare Stare" for the FIRST time yesterday morning~!

I am at work right now watching the cameras at a Fresian Breeding Farm...Premier Friesians Cam 2 and am loving it...even when VERY PREGGO dapplegrey mom is just munching on hay (which she does a LOT OF!) or pooping, or scratching, or looking around, it is for some reason mesmerizing!!

I believe that camera 2 is ACTUALLY the one with the mare who foaled a lovely black filly just like she is, a few days back I suppose... Camera 1 I believe is the one with mom who has yet to foal...sorry to mix them up, but check both of them out!!

I almost like the camera showing mom and baby just as much as the one prepping to foal! I love watching mom and filly interact with "no one" (to their knowledge, anyway) watching them! Poor girls, all big-brothered up and the don't even know it! Having no one around (other than the staff members who clearly are ever present, coming and going and shining a flashlight into the stalls, and picking out poop, and feeding, etc...to interrupt them or cause their behaviors to be anything but that which come naturally to mom and baby!

Totally neat! I hope ressurecting this thread will get others who HAVEN'T learned about "Mare Stare" until now to check it out!

So happy, for HF has broadened my horizons already! Hehe!

Never knew about it before the other thread either and I find myself checking in with our momma spree (dappled grey beauty) and checking her status every hour or so. Super exciting!!
I think the whole idea is super cool :)

LOVE MareStare! When we had our little mini mare that came with a surprise package package I had her up on Mare Stare and that is how I was alerted that she had decided to go (I had been watching her and had fallen asleep).

Awww! I keep watching "Spree" & thinking..."Okay, tonight's the night!" Alas, it is not yet THE night!

I even asked my husband about an hour ago,"If she begins to foal tonight, can I wake you up to watch her with me?" Needles to say, his look was more than enough to communicate his answer! Hehe...He's like, "Um, babe, this isn't OUR MARE, nor is it even a horse we KNOW; not to mention that you've only just begun watching her two or the days ago...so...ah, NO."

Alas, with my sad inclination toward being awake ALL NIGHT, even on my "weekend" from work, which tonight is (Thurs is essentially the equivalent of a regular person's Saturday...) I will most certainly be checking in on Spree's progress all throughout the night....fingers crossed I get to see a lovely foaling, and fingers crossed she and her baby come through this as healthy as, well, horses!
