Mares Teasing Stallion Who Are Not In Heat?

How many others have mares that tease stallions but are not in heat? Talking, coming up to them, but displaying no signs of heat, but the stallion talks and gets an errection. And mare doesn't even come in heat in the next few days even? Am I missing something or is she trying to come in? Yes I know everyone says to give up on my mare, but I really want to try and get a foal out of her even if its her one and only.

I know some mares that would or have done that. One of which would scream to a stallion even when she was inbetween heat cycles. Some stallions are also easily provoked and need little or no encouragement to get an erection.

Would you by any chance know or heard of a mare coming into heat so many times in one month even after she was covered enough times to put fives mares in foal? She expless her fluids fine. Even when she was being A.I'd twice she had not problems with that. She came in a ton this month after being covered...

But I wonder, after live cover do you keep her walking and not let her urinate after he dismounts? I kept her walking till she wasn't trying to urinate. Should I of let her? I'm seeing what other tactics I can use. I thought if you allow her to urinate after dismount she was trying to get rid of the semen.

Her hormones and heat cycles could be way out of wack this spring. When my mom tried doing AI with her mares two years ago, one of the mares looked ready to breed at every ultrasound which were every 14 days. Who knows what was going on and when she was actually ovulating or even if she was ovulating. She had regular heat cycles the next spring/summer. Good luck

I'm going to assume that a mare's goods are the same as a woman's. Our pee comes out of a different hole, it does not go through the "vaginal tract." So her peeing should not flush the semen out because it is no where near the semen. However, it would be best for her to urinate after penetration, because bacteria may get up in there and she may get an infection.

Yeah I'm just kind of confused. But I've just never heard of her doing this. She was bred the whole first week of May, ten days later she acted as if she was in heat once more. The next week she was in for one day. She hasn't some since...its odd. She just started doing this since she was live covered. She usually comes in if not pregnant is 17-21 days. This is a whole another ball game. But thanks! I could use all the luck I can get. :)

Yes they're the same I just didn't know whether to say expel or what. She was able to expell her mucus even after we walked her. I thought it was getting rid of the semen if she trys to flush after he dismounts.

I highly doubt your mare has been in heat week after week. She may just be one of those mares who will allow a stallion to cover her at any moment, regardless of whether she is in heat or not. If you want your mare to get in foal, I would turn her in with the stallion in a safe area and let nature take its course. He will breed her when she is ready. She may or may not take, who knows? I think at this point, that is your best bet. Too much human intervention when you're not exactly sure of what you're doing isn't a good thing and won't improve your chances of getting her in foal.

Naturally we take the mare to the stallion and have witnessed a few coverings. I'm about ready to do that actually, but I don't want to do that till she starts showing because I have to remove my gelding as well and put him somewhere else. Anyways, that's about ready to be my last hope.
Thanks :)

No problem! It sucks wanting something so badly and the circumstances not falling favorably in your direction. I know how you feel in that department!
