Vicky will be our stallion Ricky's last foal as he has just been diagnosed with a very mild form of a genetic condition that means his patella pops out of place, all shetland stallions are vetted before licensing including a very close look at the stifles as this is a common problem with shetlands, he passed his vetting with flying colours so the vet believes it has only really developed as he got older, sadly we have come to the only real decision to get him gelded after this show season if the vet will geld him. Also Vicky has got it too therefore she can never be bred from either. The worst part it my stallion has the best bloodlines in the breed that are becoming increasingly popular so I dread to think of how many ponies have it and haven't been tested for it. Sadly this is probably the result of generations and generations of inbreeding and it truly heart breaking to know we will never get another foal like Vicky as we are going to steer clear of these blood lines now.

Vicky is now one day sort of a months old.

The one 'down side' with breeding two perfect temperaments together is that the foal is too friendly as she was born tame.

Blue Eyed pony - if she dissappears, she's nowhere near Asutralia because she's been diverted to New Zealand....
    LOVE HER!!!

Oh how cute! I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to tame this one, and it came pre-tamed!

What a sweetie! She's small enough, you could probably fit her in a suitcase and just ship her across the pond to me!

It's a shame to hear about your stud, but also encouraging to see that you are doing the right thing and not breeding him now that you are aware of this issue. That must have been a heartbreaking decision to make.
