Well Looking at Designed by Money's pedigree he has Impressive breeding Top and Bottom, has your mare been tested for HYPP?? If not I would suggest that you should do that.

Her papers are fine, though I personally wouldn't be breeding anything in this market... QHs are a dime a dozen in most parts of the country. Train her to ride and have fun for a few years, until the market picks back up.

I had given the breeding issue a lot of thought and that is why I chose the mare I did, I also plan on showing her in halter and western pleasure. And she is 9 tiffany, thanks!

I'm glad you thought about it, but did you do any research? Since you're asking for opinions on her bloodlines, I just assumed you did not.

Have you looked into horses like her (bloodlines, color, conformation) and checked to see what they're actually selling for? (not just what price tag they're listed with) Have you thought about how much money you're going to put into showing and breeding this mare, and then the money you'll need to spend to promote and sell the foal(s)? Have you had her conformation evaluated for breeding potential? Has she had a full vet exam for conformational issues, breeding soundness, and possible genetic flaws that can be passed on to her foals? If she's 9, do you know what her breeding past is like? Has she shown or done anything noteworthy? What about her sire and dam? Have they been promoted in the show pen? Their foals?

There is a LOT more to breeding successfully than buying a cute mare with a decent set of papers. There is a reason she was for sale and not retained as a breeding mare. There is a reason you can pick up free horses WITH papers any time of the week. The path to failure is paved with good intentions and and "though", but very little planning.

I'm not trying to be mean or burst your bubble. I'm only offering a little reality check.

I have a mare that has great bloodlines, good conformation, great temperament, awesome trainability, and would likely have a colored foal bred to the right stud (she's an Appy). I've shown her a little and could compete more, time and $$ willing. She would produce awesome foals, but I have not bred her. Why? Because I don't have the time to promote her prior to breeding to make her foal worth a lot. I don't have the money for those shows AND high dollar stud fees for a worthy stallion. I don't want the responsibility of brining a foal into the world during this upside down market. I also don't want to risk my mare's health or well being. I love riding her and having her. The risk of losing her just so I can riase a cute baby isn't worth it to me right now. There are PLENTY of cute babies out there that need homes. I don't need to create another.

Just my 2 cents.
