Mystery Sire - Whose the daddy?- Genetics gurus needed! (Just for fun)
Alright, my friend was telling me about her horse and she has been doing some breed research to try and find out what her horse is exactly. The dam was a black TWH about 16hh. When they got her they did not know she was pregnant, and this pretty little pinto was born. She is grown now, and is about 14 hh, and you can see she is really pretty! We are just looking for some ideas on what her sire could have been, breed wise, based on her height, build and markings. I understand it's a lost cause, but theories are sure fun! What do you guys think?
It couldn't be a "straight" QH, because the filly has tobiano markings, and as far as we know tobiano doesn't exist in AQHA Quarter Horses. Could be a Paint sire-- many Paints have mostly QH pedigrees.
The filly also has other white pattern genetics-- because the tobiano already made her legs white, I am not sure if its splash or frame-- could be both-- sabino could be there too. But the blue eyes point toward splash or frame. (I am guessing splash.)
Size is tricky-- I know of 4 full siblings out of registered Paint parents-- sire was 15.3, dam was 15 hands-- siblings were 15.3, 15.2, 16.1 and 14.2. All raised by the same people and none of them ever sick or lacking anything-- just got a different "mix".

I betcha that it was a paint! That would definitely explain her markings and lack of gait in respect to the TWH.
I think she has a walker head for sure! And idk about you guys but I love how she has a white bum with a FULL black tail! No white really mixed in but at the top! How gorgeous!
