Nervicular-Breeding Question

Don't jump all over me but when you deal with a mare who developed nervicular and is on pain killers and on special shoes, can they carry foals if they have no pain when the med is administered? Or would the drug hurt the baby as well. Even if it was just one foot? I haven't delt with horses with nervicular so I'm asking for advice therioretically(ignore spelling please).

The drug issue aside, I would not breed a mare with Navicular...period. 9 times out of 10, there is a conformational cause for the lameness (think halter horses with upright pasterns and small hooves, that's where it seems to be the most common). Those are conformational issues that I would not want to risk reproducing in a foal.

Do not breed a mare with Navicular. Why put the added stress on her, and the meds would not be to great for a foal.
