New 09' colt pics

here's some new pics of the 09' colt, Poor Doc Hall. 2 months old now, he's growing to be quite the tall boy. I just hate how skinny he is, but he is eating plenty as he is turned out in paddock 24/7 with mommy, with run in into their barn stall.

Adorable! It makes me so sad tho because we've lost two out of two foals. One was born crowned and one was born deformed.......ehh. Adorable colt tho!

wow... that's sad. Sorry to hear that. I wish you much luck in the future though if you do plan to breed again. We have been successful 3 out of 3 now (two from one mare, one from the other), and my mare (the one that had 2 already) is in foal with a 3rd. Hopefully she will have a colt seeing as how she has thrown 2 fillies so far. Im just glad that the other mare had a colt.

we are keeping him, he will race hopefully at 2, but we will see once he is broke and ready to start training (break at 1, train and HOPEFULLY race at 2)

Possibly because Momma is so skinny herself? If a mare is putting all her nutrients towards trying to keep weight in herself, she's not putting them into the milk. Does she get grain or hay?

He's a cutie!

Ya Id say mama needs some more nutrients, its hard on her body to provide for a baby if she's not in prime shape. He's cute though, going to be a big boy!
