What a tragic loss-but I am glad to see your updates and it certainly looks like the little guy is fighting his way back.

I feel for you. Our mare foaled on march 29th and passed away due to foaling complications. We had her for 14 years. I hope the foal is doing alright and my thoughts will be with you :) keep us updated!

Thanks for all the well-wishes guys. He is doing really well, the only hurdle left at this point is finding him a good mare-match. The current nurse mare is not working out: she's just not producing enough to keep him fed, which frustrates them both. So he's only feeding from the mare every four hours, interspersed with drinking from a bucket. Going to pick up another mare in Kentucky, hopefully she'll be more suitable.

How awful about the mare- I guess that is the chance we all take when deciding to breed, you just never know. What a handsome colt she sure has.

:( What a sad story!

Adorable baby. The mare was absolutely gorgeous as well. I'm also interested in how the baby is doing now??

that is so sad, what a beautiful horse she was. Its hard to loose any horse, but there are some that just cause it to be that much harder. :(
